J-Talk: Extra Time – J2 Round 20 & J3 Round 17

There were big results at both ends of J2 last weekend, so James Taylor and Jon Steele had plenty of talking points to get their teeth into. They start by discussing Ehime’s shock win over Shimizu (to 09:30) and Sendai’s dramatic draw with Nagasaki (to 17:30), then cover important wins for Tochigi over Oita (to 24:20) and Kagoshima over Yamagata (to 34:30). That’s followed by Most Bravo Player (to 39:00) and a preview of the next set of fixtures (to 47:10).

 

After that it’s J-Talk: Short Corner – Mike Innes rounds up all the J3 teams who played in the Emperor’s Cup round 2 last Wednesday (to 56:55) and then reviews another fascinating round of league fixtures, before finishing with a look at the table and the coming weekend’s games (to end).

Episode 525 - J1 Matchday 18

Alan Gibson of JSoccer Magazine joined Jonny and Ben in Part 1 of this new episode, after a great weekend for the four Kansai clubs.

We begin with wins for Gamba Osaka and Kobe, before previewing their 3rd vs 4th clash this upcoming weekend (to 28:45), then discuss victories for Cerezo Osaka and Kyoto (to 51:30).

We kick off Part 2 with the leaders Machida passing another test with their win away at Yokohama F.Marinos (to 1:03:00), discuss comfortable wins for Hiroshima and Fukuoka, and wrap up our Matchday 18 review with the three 1-1 draws (to 1:29:40), before we finish the episode with a look ahead to two key games from the Matchday 19 slate.

In this week’s JTET, James Taylor and Jon Steele reviewed Niigata v Nagasaki in the Levain Cup playoff round (to 12:55), and a couple of league games: Yamaguchi v JEF (to 22:10) and Kagoshima v Okayama (to 36:05). They picked their Most Bravo Players (to 41:20) and looked ahead to J2 round 20 (to end).

J-Talk: Short Corner - Levain Cup & J3 Round 16

Mike Innes returns with another packed episode of J-Talk: Short Corner. Mike begins by reviewing Kataller Toyama's exploits against J1 opposition in the Levain Cup (to 03:45), then rounds up the weekend's J3 round 16 games (to 14:55). After that, Mike previews a busy Wednesday for J3 teams in the Emperor's Cup (to 17:05) and ends with a look ahead to J3 round 17 next weekend.

Jonny and Ben round up the latest top flight matchday, beginning with games involving the top four (to 46:05), before running through the other games, and looking ahead to what's on the docket during the international break.

JTET Short Corner Special - J3 Round 15 Review

With J3 Toyama still alive in the Levain Cup, and taking on Sapporo in the 1st Leg of the Play-Off Round this midweek, we've decided to put out Mike Innes' 'J-Talk: Short Corner' as a standalone pod again this time!

After a quick intro from Jon (to preview J2 Nagasaki's Levain Cup tie against Niigata the same evening), Mike takes his usual forensic look at the weekend's J3 action.

Mike then turns his attentions to Toyama's midweek date with destiny, and previews all of the upcoming weekend action in J3 (Round 16).

JTET - J2 R17 / Levain Cup R3 / Emp. Cup R1 Review

Fashionably late again this week (apologies, it's Jon's fault!), the JTET team are back in town with all the J2 and J3 news that you need to know about.

Scheduling constraints mean that Jon and James had to record separately this time, so in Part 1 (Start to 11:00) Jon looks back at the recent Levain Cup games that had a J2 participant, along with the four J2 games that were played last Saturday (and names his personal MBP for Round 17).

In Part 2 (11:00 to 17:20), James steps in to review the six J2 games from last Sunday, chooses his own MBP for the round, and looks ahead to this weekend's Round 18 fixtures.

After all the J2 action, as ever Mike 'The Magic' Innes is on hand to guide you through a busy few days from a J3 perspective in 'J-Talk: Short Corner' (17:20 to Finish). Mike covers the J3-centric ties from the Levain Cup, reviews all of the relevant Emperor's Cup Round 1 action, and previews this weekend's slate of J3 matches (Round 15 of the third-tier season).
