Episode 484 - Kobe Prove Their Mettle

After the top of the clash at the Nissan Stadium last Friday night, Ryo Nakagawara joined Jonny and Ben for a deep dive on what went so right for leaders Kobe, who strengthened their hold on top spot with a 2-0 win away at an off-colour Yokohama F.Marinos (to 38:50).

Then the guys chat about FC Tokyo's 3-0 win over Gamba Osaka, and Ryo shares his thoughts on what might be done to freshen up an aging Tokyo squad (to 1:13:05).

Later on in the episode Jonny and Ben round up the rest of the J1 Matchday 29 action, beginning with a good weekend for all three relegation dogfighters.

J-Talk: Extra Time – J2 Round 36 & J3 Round 28

Jon Steele, James Taylor and Mike Innes return with a look back at all the action from J2 and J3. Jon takes care of Saturday’s J2 round 36 games in part 1 (start to 14:10), while part 2 sees James round up Sunday’s games and two rearranged Wednesday matches (14:10 to 21:00). In part 3, the guys got together for the first time in a while to talk about the state of play in J2 overall and preview the coming weekend’s fixtures (21:00 to 54:15), and then Mike Innes rounds off the episode as ever with the latest from J3 in J-Talk: Short Corner (54:15 to end).

Episode 483 - J1 Matchday 28

The top two did the business in J1 Matchday 28, setting up an epic clash at the Nissan Stadium this Friday night, and on this episode we review all the action from the top flight weekend, beginning with Kobe's win in the Kansai Derby over Cerezo Osaka, and Yokohama F.Marinos's come-from-behind triumph at Kashima.

Then it's 10-man Urawa assuming nearest challenger status after a terrific win at Gamba Osaka, while the rest of the title chasers stumbled. After that we move on to a disappointing weekend for all of our relegation dogfight combatants, before previewing the game of the season (from 1:18:00).

J-Talk: Extra Time – J2 Round 35 & J3 Round 27

The JTET team is back with a full review of J2 round 35 and J3 round 27. In part 1, James Taylor reviews 6 games (start to 07:35) and in part 2, Jon Steele covers the other 5 league games and Kofu’s Champions League debut (07:35 to 13:30). Part 3 sees Jon talk to Martin Spivey about Blaublitz Akita’s season (13:30 to 1:17:35). Then Mike Innes has all the J3 action in J-Talk: Short Corner (1:17:35 to end).

Episode 482 - J1 Matchday 27 & The Return of the ACL

After a weekend of surprising results at both ends of the J1 table, Stuart Woodward and Ralf Seidl joined Jonny and Ben to chat about missed opportunities, but improved league positions for both Yokohama F.Marinos and Urawa Reds after matchday 27, while also looking ahead to the commencement of the ACL group stage.

In Part 1 Stuart guests following F.Marinos's 1-1 home draw against Tosu on Friday night, and chats about the pressure on Kevin Muscat to do well on the continental stage (to 23:23), then in Part 2 Ralf rues ridiculous refereeing after Reds were held 0-0 by Kyoto, also on Friday, and discusses the state of the defending ACL champs and their outlook for the remainder of the season (to 46:50).

Then in Part 3 Jonny and Ben review the rest of Matchday 27, including Hiroshima leaping back into title contention, and 10-man Kashima bullying Cerezo Osaka while climbing up to third, plus two big results in the relegation dogfight.

JTET - J2 Round 34 / J3 Round 26 Review

Just in time for the weekend's games, another all-new JTET episode is ready for launch!

This week, we begin with Jon Steele reviewing all of the action from the most recent round of J2 matches (Start to 17:00).

After that, Jon was joined by special guest Daniel Kuroda (@NagaSapo_EN on Twitter) for an in-depth discussion about Nagasaki's season so far. The boys talked about Nagasaki's come-from-behind home win against Gunma (17:00 to 23:50), then chatted about how Daniel is feeling about the 2023 campaign as a whole (23:50 to 46:10).

Jon and Daniel then took a detailed look at the upcoming J2 Round 35 fixtures in a weekend preview (46:10 to 55:35).

Episode 481 - Germany 1-4 Japan

Japan turned on the style in their first friendly of this international break, claiming a comprehensive and thoroughly deserved 4-1 victory over Germany in Wolfsburg, and Alan Gibson and Brett Bobysud (in a storming J-Talk debut) guest to chat about the game and its standout performers.

We also briefly look ahead to Tuesday night's game against Turkey, and wrap up the Levain Cup quarter finals, before rounding off the episode by previewing the weekend's J1 Matchday 27.

JTET - J2 Round 33 / J3 Round 25 Review

A brand new JTET episode is ready for launch!

This week, the pod starts with Jon Steele reviewing all of the action from Round 33 in J2 (plus a look at Kumamoto's glorious PK shootout win over Kobe in the Emperor's Cup last midweek). That runs until 16:50.

After that, Jon sat down with JTET's Official Kumamoto Correspondent, Garry Irwin, to chat about the latest events at Egao-Kenko Stadium. The boys discussed the Emperor's Cup win (16:50 to 26:00), and Kumamoto's defeat at JEF Chiba in the league (26:00 to 36:30).

After that, Garry helped Jon to preview all of the upcoming J2 games in Round 34 this weekend (36:30 to 45:50).

Episode 480 - J1 Matchday 26: Kobe Back on Top

Sam makes a triumphant return to J-Talk to help Ben run through all of the games from a wild top flight weekend.

We begin with the top two, Kobe taking advantage of Yokohama F.Marinos's latest wobble by returning to the summit with a 2-1 home win over Kyoto on Sunday night, with the picture looking very murky for F.Marinos after back-to-back defeats against lowly opponents and the rumoured move of Anderson Lopes to Saudi Arabia.

Elsewhere Cerezo Osaka vaulted up to fourth and might just be the likeliest challengers to the top two after a third straight win, with Nagoya, Urawa and Kashima all drawing against bottom six opponents.

Wins for Hiroshima, Fukuoka and, at long last, Sapporo, round out our J1 wrap, before we look ahead to Levain Cup quarters and two big games for the Samurai Blue.

JTET - J2 Round 32 / J3 Round 24 Review

This week's soaraway JTET has finally landed!

To kick things off, there's a full review of last weekend's J2 action with James Taylor (Start to 06:30), and Jon Steele (06:35 to 15:50).

After that, Jon had the chance to sit down and chat with Richy Palmer about some of the big talking points from the 2nd tier. The gents talked about Tochigi v Mito (15:55 to 26:00), Yamaguchi v Kofu (26:00 to 32:45), and Kumamoto v Iwaki (32:45 to 42:15).

Jon and Richy then previewed the midweek Emperor's Cup tie between Kumamoto and J1 big boys Kobe (42:15 to 45:40), and looked ahead to the weekend's slate of J2 matches (45:40 to 54:00).
