Episode 358 - J1 Matchdays 3 & 4
Tuesday Mar 16, 2021
Tuesday Mar 16, 2021
Scott McIntyre guests as we review the weekend's J1 Matchday 4.
Before that though, we begin the episode by checking in with Gamba Osaka correspondent Jonny Nicol on the already perilous-looking state of Gamba's fixture list after the COVID-19 outbreak at the club, then we ever so briefly round up last Wednesday's Matchday 3 (to 15:26).
Scott then climbs aboard and we begin our weekend wrap with Nagoya's third straight 1-0 win, before we have an extended chat about this season's surprise packet Tosu (to 40:00): Are Sagan ACL bound?
Next two clashes between teams who won for the first time in midweek - Kashima and Hiroshima drawing in Ibaraki and Yokohama F.Marinos cruising past Urawa, before we move on to ruthlessly efficient champions Kawasaki after their home win over Kashiwa (to 1:05:35).
After the break two relegation dogfight six-pointers, that saw Fukuoka come from behind to win at Tokushima and Shonan add to Sendai's misery (to 1:19:50), before we finish with another sound beating for Yokohama FC, this time at the hands of Cerezo Osaka, and the draw between Oita and FC Tokyo.

In this episode, Mike & Jon take a look at all of the teams who finished in the bottom half of the third tier in 2020, as well as extending a warm welcome to J3 debutants Tegevajaro Miyazaki.

Episode 357 - J1 Matchday 2
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
After another bumper weekend of top flight action, Sean Carroll guested to round up J1 Matchday 2.
We begin all the way back at Todoroki last Wednesday night, where Cerezo Osaka gave champions Kawasaki their first stern test of the new season, then begin our weekend wrap with the same two teams - Frontale swatting aside Sendai, and Cerezo again losing the lead twice and coming away with nothing after their trip to FC Tokyo (to 23:46).
Next we cover the two teams closest to Kawasaki in the table - Nagoya and Tosu - after their second straight wins, over Sapporo and Urawa respectively (to 54:10), and from there we move on to first wins of the season for Kashiwa (over Shonan) and Oita (away at Yokohama FC), before we finish with the matchday's three draws.
