Episode 335 - Started From The Bottom, Now We're Here

It was a decent weekend for teams in the bottom half of the table, with four of them winning, so we flipped the script and Part 1 features Kobe's thumping of Sapporo, Yusuke Matsuo's triumphant homecoming in Yokohama FC's superb away win at Urawa, Oita's impressive month continuing with a gutsy triumph at Kashima, and Tosu belting FC Tokyo for the second time this season (to 27:45).

 

Part 2 begins with Gamba Osaka's win at Hiroshima, moves on to Yokohama F.Marinos' late show at Kashiwa - in a game marred by Sachiro Toshima's broken leg - and also includes Nagoya's home cruise over Shimizu before wrapping up with wins for the top two and a look ahead to Saturday's top of the table clash.

Kashima threw a wrench in Cerezo Osaka's hopes of latching on to Kawasaki's coat tails on Saturday, and Frontale took full advantage at Urawa on Sunday, cruising past Reds to restore their eight point buffer. Part 1 also includes home wins for FC Tokyo and Nagoya (to 33:08).

Part 2 covers the other five games - including a blowout in the Battle of the Bottom - and the week ahead in the top flight.

Part 1 begins with a mixed bag for the three Kansai clubs: Cerezo Osaka triumphing over the defending champions; Kobe snatching a point at the death; and Gamba Osaka fluffing their lines at home against (previously) bottom club Shonan (to 32:33).

Part 2 opens with Kawasaki's demolition job on Hiroshima, then moves on to surprising losses for Nagoya and Kashiwa (with kudos to Yokohama FC and Tosu for their impressive wins) and also includes the seven goal humdinger at the Sapporo Dome.
